For this task, you will use the information provided under the Process tab to co-create (in groups of three) a final project that comprehensively:

 

  • Identifies current environmental issues, what sustainable gardening is and the ability of this practice to work towards solving these issues

  • Considers multiple perspectives and disciplines to demonstrate your understanding of the various aspects involved in sustainable gardening

  • Addresses the potential challenges in designing and implementing the garden

  • Identifies a practical strategy for creating a sustainable garden

Digging Deep into Sustainable Gardening

Your final project can be expressed in one of many formats. You can write a paper, create and update a blog, make a video, design and distribute a pamphlet or give a community presentation. Choose a format that you feel will most effectively enable you to communicate your findings and ideas! 

 

This project will occur over the course of the full term, and therefore, it is expected that you address multiple topics that you have learned throughout the year.

By the completion of this project you will have successfully explored and applied knowledge pertaining to aboriginal perspectives, sustainability, environmentalism, biology, chemistry, community engagement, among others. You will have engaged in and acquired skills in collaboration, critical thought, problem solving, communication and team work.

 

Consider this task as the first step to working towards creating your very own sustainable garden! The research is the hard part, and after completing this task you will equiped with the knowledge of how to implement your knowledge into practice.
